Two-Day Intensive Workshop Curriculum: Ayurvedic Body Therapies

Day 1: Core Principles & Foundational Techniques

Session 1: Ayurvedic Framework for Body Therapies

  • Introduction to Ayurveda: Tridosha theory

  • Understanding Prakriti and Vikriti in clinical bodywork

  • Role of Abhyanga and Marma Chikitsa in healing

  • Overview of Panchakarma preparatory therapies

Session 2: Medicinal Oils, Powders, and Preparations

  • Choosing base and medicated oils (e.g., Mahanarayana oil)

  • Powders and pastes used in Udvartana and Lepana

  • Oil heating, herbal infusion, and preparation techniques

  • Matching oils and therapies to doshic states and seasonal needs

Session 3: Self-Abhyanga & Dinacharya Integration

  • Guided practice of self-Abhyanga

  • Incorporating daily body therapies into lifestyle (Dinacharya)

  • Kansa wand massage, Garshana (dry brushing), and facial therapies

  • Supporting detox with steam (Swedana) and bathing rituals

Session 4: Workshop Practice Lab

  • Hands-on practice in oil handling, application strokes, and transitions

  • Techniques for joint care, scalp, foot, and face therapy

Day 2: Applied Therapeutics & Customization

Session 1: Full Body Abhyanga with Marma Focus

  • Demonstration of therapeutic flow sequence (head-to-toe)

  • Stroke pressure, rhythm, direction, and body mechanics

  • Marma point activation and touch with intention

  • Precautions and modifications for different clients

Session 2: Swedana & Complementary Body Therapies

  • Importance of Swedana

  • Indications and contraindications of fomentation

  • Integrating Swedana before and after massage sessions

Session 3: Clinical Protocol Design & Special Conditions

  • Designing therapy sessions for stress, pain, fatigue, arthritis

  • Customizing treatments based on age, gender, season, and constitution

  • Integrating Udvartana (dry massage) and Lepana (herbal applications)

  • Ethics, contraindications, and therapist self-care

Session 4: Practice, Integration & Certification

  • Final hands-on practice in pairs or triads

  • Creating treatment protocols for case scenarios

  • Building an Ayurvedic therapy offering for your practice
